by way of a workaround webdesk on its work load lists shows on right click of any line a list of possible actions against that incident. so you could right click the relevant incident and go to resolution which will open your resolution window, enter your details and save and close. after this you are you returned to your workload list. similar set up in console for query result set but the actions will appear to left of result set.
We do a bulk action via schedule manager in the admin console to do this.

Apologies: Just re-read your post. Dont think you can close the window itself from completing a resolution window. (thought you meant close the incident rather than the window)

We are not needing an auto close rather just a way for the window to be exited after you choose Save and Close from the Resolution window.

If I'm reading correctly in that you just want to close the Incident Window itself (and return to the dashboard) once the child window is closd then I dont believe that is possible at the moment.
Why not raise an Enhancement Resquest and gather votes.
This is what I need and I will raise that now actually.
