Absolutly you can.
Inside your query, Choose the Filters button. A box will pop up allowing you to choose from among your Device Groups. I believe you can select as many as you need.
I've attached a screenshot on mine. We are running LDMS 9.0 SP2, so it may look different than yours.

Oops, you are correct, forgot about that... I was thinking more of managing groups automaticly by using a query
Just define a query that hits every device such as "DeviceID Exists" and click the filter button to select your device group.
However, if you can find a way of working without having to resort to manually defining device groups - then I would really suggest that you do so. Device Groups are in my opinion the last resort - i.e. if I cant do it with inventory or based on AD - even after considering using custom data forms or customising the inventory collection process with some sort of script - then a device group is OK. The only real example I can think of is a group of Pilot or Test PCs - where the criteria for group membership is not easily definend by inventory or AD.
