Generally changing the IP on the core is not going to break things. The agents by default talk to the core via name unless you have set the Agent Configuration to use the IP instead of the core name. I would also check how your patching, distribution packages, image scripts are set. If you have referenced anything to the IP then it will have to be changed to either the new one or to the name of the core server.
In consulting with another Landesk person, I came up with this..
Back up the core server (or take a snapshot if virtual), change IP address, run IPconfig /registerdns on the core server.
Landesk Wizard is correct that changing the IP should not be an issue.
Additionally if someone is using the public variables in provisioning, you should consider editing the "coreIP" variable to point to the new IP address.
