Hi Landesk 9 Sp2
Hi have image of windows 7 which deploys fine.
just wondering is there a command I can use to activate windows licence using unattened.xml file
I have setup a vamt server and our volume licence installed
but there is no documents on Landesk how do this
How do other user get around this.?
I am assuming you mean you set up a KMS server?
What we do is:
Put the Dummy Key in the Unattend.xml
Dummy Key is here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793406.aspx
Then I add commands that launch at the end of the sysprep process, these can be your SynchronousCommands
1. Connect to your KMS server:
cscript slmgr.vbs -skms %KMSSERVERNAME%:1688
2. Activate the Host
cscript slmgr.vbs -ato
*Note - You have to have atleast 25 clients activated before the KMS server starts activating correctly
I did install vamt
not realising KMS was installed on our landesk core server
could someone explain the dummy keys how they work
The keys are just product keys, identifiying what OS Version your are running.
You will get the real key from your KMS Server, while activating.
Client activations are valid for 180 days. This period is called the activation validity interval. To remain activated, KMS clients must renew their activation by connecting to the KMS host at least once every 180 days. By default, KMS client computers attempt to renew their activation every seven days. After a client's activation is renewed, the activation validity interval begins again.
If the System don't check in, they are removed.
Don't forget that there is also a Count.
KMS requires a minimum number of computers (physical or VM) in a network environment.
The organization must have at least 5 computers to activate Windows Server 2008 R2 and at least 25 computers to activate Windows 7 clients.
These minimums, called activation thresholds, are set so that they are easily met by enterprise customers.
