    Different size HDD

    Rookie

      Hi,

I would like to know how I can deploy an image on new disk with different capacity.

      I use imagew.exe (V2) with landesk 9

      Above my command line parameters

      h:\imagew.exe /r /o /d:0 /f:"""i:\images\laptop.TBI""" /rb:0

      Thanks in advance.

          Hi,

I already do it, it works but you have to make a new partition with the rest of the disk.

I don't know if my answer is ok for you... my english is poor sorry.

The probleme is that the disk is smaller than the disk which has used to make the image.

I have two partition and system partition can have the same size. I would only deploy system. Datas partition is with out datas...

Le probleme est que le disque est plus petit que le disque qui a servit à faire l'image.

J'ai 2 partitions sur ce disque. je voudrais juste restaurer la partition system. La partition "datas" est vierge

            Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately one downside to sector based imaging tools (such as ImageW) is that they capture partition settings along with the data actually on that partition.  When it deploys the image it will require at least as much space as on the original capture.

The solution to get around this is to capture from a relatively small hard drive.  If you already have it captured from a large hard drive you could redeploy to that same machine and then run the Diskpart Shrink command to shrink it.  If you would like more information on how to do that let me know.

                I hope this helps.

                Thanks!
