First I would suggest deploying google chrome for business. You can then use GPOs (or simulate the registry keys via custom vulnerability) https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/business/browser/ http://support.google.com/a/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=1064255 Here is a good article on pre-installing chrome extensions that should help http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=188453&topic=1064255&ctx=topic
Extensions are located in the user profile and if you install under the local system account it would not work. This document may alos help you:
Thanks for the reply, I have pushed out the enterprise chrome and have created our apps (CRX), what I really need is to "publish" this via the Landesk Desktop manager/Software Portal..Or push it like a "zip" to install without user intervention or failing that, minimal actions. (i have read all of google's docs)
What I am really asking is has anyone used Landesk to install the extension, any method?
So I try to use the supported methods listed in the links I sent (preinstall, etc...) since they are somewhat supported by the vendor. Depending on you OS, the extensions live:
C:\Documents and Settings\<profilename>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions
I believe the CRX files are mearly compressed zip files with differnet extensions. So you could rollyour own script to simply unzip the files to the appropriate folder(s).
Or you could try installing them via the chrome command. I think I read somewhere that if you run chrome and reference the crx file as a command line option it will install.
