Disabling the auto-update Java feature using Security/Patch Manager

Hi everyone- I see in the security and patch manager of Landesk Management there is a scan to help disable the auto-update feature of Java.  What I am trying to find out is does it modify the computers registry so that when it runs once - it fixes the problem and doesnt need to be corrected again - or if it scans and fixes the problem, does it check to see if the problem is back on a secondary scan and correct again, or does it ignore the scan on a pc once it was already run once?  I just want to know if this will work for my needs w/out having to re-invent the wheel.  Thanks!
