Changing Add Assignment to Reassign as an optional action

    Apprentice

      HI All

I recently saw a webinar that was using 7.5 and saw they had an optional action called Reassign.  They also had an optional action called Assign to Me.  Does anyone know how to do this in 7.4?

Here's a link to the video.

      Thanks

          Hi

I haven't gone through the webinar but for our Assign to Me action I just created a new action added this to the process and then followed it with an assignment where Resolver Group is a value type of $CurrentGroup$ and Analyst is $CurrentUser$

On the reassign action, what exactly was it doing?  We have "Assign within the Team" and "Assign to another Team", for both created new BO and associated windows, filtered the results on the window so if you're doing Assign within the Team it looks at Current Group and then shows a list of only Analysts in that group, followed the action with an assignment and that was basically it.

            Hi Helen

Are you able to do this as an optional action?  I have done this as a process/manual action.

Sorry I must have sped read your post, no I haven't got these as optional actions. They're manual actions as you have.  Not sure how you'd go about creating them as optional as you can't select a value type or calculation for a manual action in the optional action instance to populate the group/user?!

I don't believe you are understanding what is going on when the person in the demo hits the "Assign to Me"(00:29:46) optional action.  The first image shows you the demonstrator clicking the Assign to me action, but look at the history.  It shows a single assignment when he created the ticket.  The second image shows you the history after he hits "Assign To Me".  The history shows you he hit the "Assign To Me" action and that an "Add Assignment" function was used.  So he clicked the possible "dummy" action(it does nothing but move the process forward/windowless action), then the assignment occurs. Take a look at the third image,(00:31:47), it just assigns it to someone, most likely $CurrentUser$ in the Analyst field(imaage 4.. my own image).  So what you think is happening without the process actually being used is not correct.  Then entire thing is built into the process

The Assign To Me is at the top right side of the images.  You can see it if you are looking for it.  It is in the process being used from Open and can be used again when at In Progress

I am doing this currently.  Here is how I am doing it:

                  1. Created a New Manual Action called "Take Ownership" (this is a Windowless Action) (you could name this whatever you like such as "Assign to Me"
                  2. Add an Assignment Action
                  3. Set the Analyst in the assignment action Value Type to "Specifiy a Macro" and set to CurrentUser.  once you click ok, it should show $CurrentUser$
                  4. Set any notification that you might want to go out to the analyst
                  5. Save

You will then need to go into privileges and give the appropriate Groups and Roles access to see the new Action "Take Ownership" and such.  Hope this helps...
