I had thought of that but that would only get me inicdents that were created in that time period. For instance, lets say I want to know all of the open incidents in the month of April. If I use the created criteria, it would leave out all of the tickets that were still open and carried over from previous months. I really thought that this would be a easy thing to do, it seems it is harder than I thought....
in this case you need something like creation date is older than 01.05.2012 and status is open
Okay, but in your suggestion, would it not then show me everything after that date when I only want for the one month? So let me see if I can but the criteria that would work and see if you agree or have a better way.
1. Creation date would need to be before the end of April (There still could be open incidents since we implemented system which was in the begining of the year)
2. Incident is open
3. Incident not resolved before April 1
4. Incident not resolved after April 30
Would this work?
Do I even need #2?
It depends on the result you want to get.
If you use the criteria 'creation date is older than 01.05.2012 and status is open' it will show you all incidents in the status open that were created before 01.05. and are still open on the day you execute the query.
If you want to see all the incident that were open in a period of time in the past independent from the current status you do not need #2, I agree.
