Nothing baked into the product, you will have to script something - batch, VB, Autoitscript, Package builder, etc.... One of the challenges, will be not to create duplicate entries if the entry exists already. Google for scripts there should be numerous hits.
Does anyone have, searched on the NET but none of them work. have any one done it previously.
I'll send you one on my old scripts (package builder and grep) - LOL. Not pretty but it works (well it used to).
Ok thanks, will be awaiting for your reply!!
This is so simple:
1. Create a batch file with this text:
REM This batch file echoes some lines and redirects them to the hosts file SET HostsFilePath=%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts ECHO >> %HostsFilePath% ECHO 10.1.1.1 CoreServerName >> %HostsFilePath% ECHO 10.1.1.1 CoreServerName.domain.com >> %HostsFilePath%
The first line is needed in case the bottom line in the current hosts file is not a blank line.
If you want to overwrite the existing hosts file, just use only one redirect operator instead of two on the first line. ">"
Now deploy the batch file.
