    SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2

    Rookie

During initial install I followed the guide to install SQL 2008 r2 and configure it then installed LD 9.3.

After some time I noticed that LD had installed SQL 2005 and is using that instead of SQL 2008.

How do I move the database from 2005 to 2008 without having to modify any usernames/passwords?

      OR

Is it better to get rid off 2005 + Database and recreate everything in 2008 if possible?

I'm no expert in SQL so any links/guides/instructions would we helpful.

      Thank you

          Hi!

Going upwards in SQL version is easy. Simply make a backup of the DB and restore it in SQL2008. If you make sure the same user with the same password exists on that SQL2008 server and you make that DBO of the restored DB, it should be fine.

You won't be able to get a 2008 DB to work in SQL 2005 anymore, though...
