    LANDesk Web Console issue

    Rookie

      All,

Currently having an issue with our LANDesk web console. We are running 9.0 SP3 and sometime last week some of the techs who use the web console reported that they could no longer see anything listed under the Navigation pane on the left hand side. I assumed that something happened with RBA but all seems to be in order. I noticed that on my account I also can see nothing but when I log in using the console (as I always do) I have no issues.

      What else should I check?

      Thanks in advance.

Verify that you have the problem under multiple users.  Restart IIS.

If the problem persists, post a screenshot of the problem in this thread.

I am also seeing this issue.  It was reported to me about a week ago.  All roll based administration has remained the same.  If I log into the web console, I also have a blank panel.  I would post a screen shot, but all it would show is a web console with a grey left panel.

              Hi,

check the IIS logs under "...\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1" for errors when trying to login to the web console.

Verify the LANDesk and LANDesk1 COM+ applications. Is it possible to restart them without an error. Are they running with a domain account? Is the domain account still valid and not locked?

w3svc1 folder is empty.  COM+ applications can be shutdown and started with no error.

Did you look in the inetpub log folder on your core server? It shouldn't be empty...

Is the logging disabled in you iis configuration or was the default logging folder changed?

You can enable it, under Logging in the default website and change the plan to daily. If the logging folder was changed you can see here where it points too...

Then check the logs or post them after calling the web console.

Defualt log file location was changed.

Here's a bit from yesterday's log file before and after I hit the page.

Hm, I see no "get" messages arriving at the core. I guess this is the core "193.63.51.24" but what is the client that tries to access the web console? It seems that nothing arrives at the core from your client...

I didn't include enough of the log file... it's rather lenthy and I don't want to post the entire thing as text.  The IP you quoted is the core.  The missing left panel occurs from a browser on and off the core.  It's possible this section of the log is from when I was testing the web console on the core itself.   Here are some of the GET messages.

I know the log is very heavy... The few lines you add are all unsuccessfull tries so something might have change in your IIS.

As from the lines I think you are on LDMS 9.0 SP3 too like Jabrah who opens this threat, is this correct?

Please go into the application pool section of your IIS and check the LDAppWeb pool. What identity is configured for the LDAppWeb pool? If it is configured for "Network service" try to change it to "Local System", do an IISRESET and try the webconsole again. If this did not succeed, change it back to network service. I remember that at one of our customers this leads to success.

If this didn't help, right click on the LDAppWeb pool and choose "Show applications". There must be something like "/remote" --> C:\inetpub\wwwroot\LANDesk\LDMS". Check in the windows explorer if the folder where the "/remote" application points really exists.
