    Problem with Custom Data Forms

    migacz Rookie

      Hi

      i'm new user LDMS and i have a problem with custom data forms. my clients are configured to manual updates forms and display forms on startup

      i add new simple form and schedule to test computers. task status is active, second day. I reboot test computers but nothing happens.

      What I'm doing wrong?

          If your task is 'active' then it hasn't completed and the forms haven't been delivered. Is the scheduler service on your core server running OK? If that is stopped then the task will not launch properly. If running, try restarting it anyway and restart your scheduled task.

              What does the task look like in the scheduler and what are the properties of it.

              Once scheduled, LANDesk should create a 'Managed Script' with the same name as the form that contains something like the following:

              [MACHINES]

              REMDEL0=%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\*.FRM

              REMCOPY0=\\WIN2008CORE\LDLOGON\FRM9768.FRM, %LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\FRM9768.FRM, TOREMOTE

              Are you seeing this get created?

                  There is a warning icon on the task. Is that from restarting the scheduler service or is that appearing when you start the task?

                        The global scheduler has delegated task 171.

                          The task was delegated by (source): AUTOMATIX

                          This task was delegated to (dest) : AUTOMATIX

                          Using GlobalTask_Idn              : 57

                        This delegation was done by creating an entry in the GlobalTask table on the destination core (the task id is provided above).

                        The Entry in the GlobalTask should have set to state column to 1 to indicate that it is a new task and should be processed.

                        The scheduler service should detect and process this delegated task, please check scheduler service log on the destination core to see if it successfully detected the GlobalTask entry.

                          This basically comes down to what Mark asked before already too, does the script to deploy the Form exists? This is the physical path it looks for it:'C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\scripts\Wydzial.ini'; In the console you should see it under 'Manage scripts.'

                            I've seen a few reported issue recently regarding custom scripts like these but generally around OSD. In my testing the script did not seem to get created until the task started so I wonder if there is an inherent problem with this process and remote consoles. I have a chance to test something today and will update with results.

                              when i schedule form from remote console file is not created, when i schedule from core server file is created.

                                OK, replicated.

                                On the Core, if I schedule a form then the manage script is created when I schedule the task. On a remote console the script is not created and therefore the task fails.

                                Both console.exe.log files show a similar process except on the core version is shows a list of scripts, on the remote it doesn't.

                                Upshot of this is:

                                1. LANDesk seem to have broken this when they shifted scripts into the DB so you should report this as a bug to support
                                2. As long as you do the initial schedule of a form on the core console then the script will be available for future use
