i wanted to do the same and contacted support.
I tried to get the network Printers from WMI but Landesk uses only the first found entry.
We installed Data Analytics and i will try to solve it with this extension.
I keep u posted ;-)
This is the answer from Support:
In regards to LDMS 9.5 our current WMI implementation can only "see" the first instance of an entry. Since printers are stored with an instance for each configured printer, LANDesk can only find whatever happens to be first in those instances. This explains why most of your machines were showing only information about the XPS writer.
My proposed solution therefore involves using a script to gather the information and write it under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM) registry root, then configuring a custom data item to read that registry information.
The first part will be to write a script to read the information using WMI and then write it to the registry. This shouldn't be too hard; the following deal with WMI scripting and printers:
The following deal with scripts writing to the registry:
Once you've got a working script, you'll need to create a distribution package in the LANDesk console. The only necessary file will be the small script executable, and you'll create a task to push it to all machines.
After the script has been distributed and run, an inventory scan must be run to read the data. This will require defining a custom data item in the LANDesk console, which I can help with if necessary. The next inventory scan will then collect the data to be displayed for each device.
This might look like a lot, but it's actually pretty easy. We've even got a community document that outlines the general idea:
