Is there any good documents on how to set up software distributions to install through the Managment Gateway? I have a large number employees out in the field and I need them to install a piece of software, i have the gateway service installed and it seems to be working. I have a http share set up but i'm not sure how to create the distribution job and i'm not sure how the end user can see the distribution package? Does the package install as the system account through the Managment gateway? Any help would be awesome, i've been looking and I can't find much information.
you should use a Policy as Delivey Method for your tasks. If you want to do some tests it could be usefull tu use an Optional Policy so you can see it from Device Manager and install it manually.
Okay so if they are out in the field, they can open their desktop top manager and it will sync without being connected to the network. I have tried this and when members open the desktop manager and they are not connected to the network they get a sync error?
Clients should be connected to Internet and LANDesk agent sets in Gateway mode. If you use a Required Policy (instead of Optional or Recommended) clients will sync automatically as agent configuration.
Try to force an Inventory from a client in Gateway mode to be sure that connections are working properly between client, core and CSA.
So i have a computer next to me, not on our network and it has internet access. The computer is set to gateway mode and i'm able to remote control the computer from the Landesk Managment COnsole when i select Remote Control via management gateway. I try to run a inventory scan or a open the desktop manager and i get a error. The error is LDISCN32: The inventory server Landesk1 did not respond, that is a our server. Whe i open the desktop manager i get Policy synchronization has failed.
