We are currently in the process of migrating from 9.0SP3 to 9.5SP1. I've noticed in 9.5, when creating Software Distribution folders (groups), they are now called "Package Bundles". However, in 9.0SP3, we were able to have multiple groups with the same name. We have our Distribution Packages broken down by manufacturer, then product, then version. However, multiple applications could have similar version names, thus, the reason why we have multiple groups with the same name. In 9.5, I am getting an error: "Due to the following issues, the distribution package could not be saved: Another package already has the same name." Is the ability to have Distribution Package groups with similar names no longer an option?
Package bundles do require a unique name but this is going to be changed in our next base patch for SP1. Soon you will be able to have multiple of the same name as long as they are in different sub trees. Example (Microsoft -> X86) and (Adobe -> X86) etc...
Some more fresh news about this incident ?
I've just migrated one customer, and realize after about packages bundles
On LANDesk 9.5 sustaining page, "next BASE patch for SP1" is now available... but no reference with this case
For information, I've contacted Support (ticket 00667878, sorry in french)
Thanks for all news...
So we currently have LD95-SP1-CP_BASE-2013-0813 listed for base patches for SP1. Currently we are working on the next base patch which is in testing now. This issue will be resolved in that patch. Current timeframe for that patch is estimated to be released within a few weeks but nothing official yet.
