    Error Installing 9.5sp1


      This the error i have recieved while trying to apply the 9.5sp1. Rainstall.exe is in the ldlogon folder and the LANDesk TIM does exisit.


      ERROR: UpdateComputers exiting with 2 Error(s)
      The system cannot find the file specified.

      CommonCore.inf: (0x00000002) ldlogon\Rainstall.exe,90000

      Servicestart.inf: (0x00000002) LANDeskTIM


      I have tried multiple things including streams trouble shooting, starting over from scratch, service restarts/reinstall and redownloading the patch all together nothing seems to work. This core is activated and is a test core my production core installed and updated just fine.

      I have the error log attached. Any help would be great.

            I have found a solution to this. For the landesktim service you have to reinstall it. Make sure you stop the service prior to installing it and you may have to unistall too. so you will need to use this command to install.(path may vary depending on version of .NET) C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\InstallUtil.exe D:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\mbsdk\TIM.exe (just insert what your path to TIM.exe is after the blue command).


            AND this one to uninstall

            C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\InstallUtil.exe /u D:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\mbsdk\TIM.exe


            For the rainstall error i copied over the entire folder of where the rainstall was on my other working server over to the broken one and that fixed that one. Let me know if this helps.

              I have trouble with this error:

              Landesk sp error.png

              File Rainstall.exe is in ldlogon. Setting absolute path to Rainstall.exe in CommonCore.inf do not resolve trouble. Installing and uninstalling TIM.exe service also do not resolve trouble. Anybody have another solution?

                File "LANDesk Software 9.5, Service Pack 1.log" includes next strings:

                Executing command: C:\PROGRA~2\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\Rainstall.exe

                ERROR: ExecuteModule return code: 2 running C:\PROGRA~2\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\Rainstall.exe

                Error found and added to ErrorHandler

                "C:\PROGRA~2" is "c:\Program files (x86)". File Rainstall.exe is exist.

                  Hi APetrenko,


                  Could you try to run the SP1 installer with adminitrator privileges via the command line ?

                  It fixed the issue when I encountered the problem with a customer.

                      A couple of things stand out:

                      1. The lock over the rainstall.exe, I wonder if this is a permissions issue;


                      2. You could open the 9.5sp1-core.exe file and go to updates\1 folder and search for the commoncore.inf. Is it there? If so, open it an look for this line; Use 7-zip to open.


                      Maybe somehow this is missing from your exe, or if it is there then I would double-check permissions.
