Landesk 9.5 sp1 Hii Best Practices

    Rookie

We are looking into Hii for imaging moving forward.....I can't find a document explaining the process

Is there a lot of issues with 9.5 sp1 hii?  I've seen quite a few unanswered posts regarding blue screens and slowness....is it unstable?

Is there a way to import all HP/Dell Drivers

I have been struggling with similar issues. It appears HII is not injecting the drivers even though it completes with success. I have attempted to assign drivers to certain models with no luck and have tried different drivers and versions. The end result is a blue screen with error code 0X0000007b because it is not loading the hard drive controller driver.

Update:  Finally figured out that the new version of HII can't deal with old HII material left over from image creation or reimaging. Ended up adding a provisioning task that deletes the \Windows\LDDRIVERSTORE file on the hard drive before the HII task. HII loads the proper drivers and all is well again.

dstark93, are you sure it's not loading the driver? That error could also mean that the image was captured on a computer set to use AHCI and is being deployed to a computer set to use IDE in the BIOS or vice versa.

Hi Chad, did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am with Jaren, you might to create the image in Vmware, sysprep and then try aain.

The problem that I was having with Hii had to do with Windows 8.1 and partioning the drive in the provisioning process.

In WinPE after the imaging the landesk provisioning wasn't automatically mounting the hard drive as c:\...so when Hii or dism tried to inject the drivers it was failing.

I'm doing a lot with Hii and it's working great!

I have noticed with 9.5 you have to create a task to specifically mount the partition which was not required in 9. I usually mount the drive as J. The reason I chose a letter farther in the alphabet is I have noticed that computers from the the manufacturers often have strange partitions that will take up the early drive letters and the mount will not take place at the letter you think it did and then any task that calls a specifc drive letter will fail.

I'am working with that simple approach.

Could be a workaround for other Vendors too.
