From a design consideration I was wondering what criteria to take into account when deciding whether or not to create a lookup list or use allowed values on an integer field.
My starter is if the list can be used in multiple processes then it should be created as a lookup list so that it can be changed in one place and automatically propagate to all the related processes.
Also keep in mind if you want to be able to query on that item. If so the reference list is better. The other lookup list will reference the number it is set to in the object and not the actual word.
