I believe that some of the other tools like Ghost or Powerquest used to write a file or a Reg key with Image Information so that they could track licensing. I am not aware of any version of LANDesk Imaging that ever did that.
Yeah i think we used to drop the file in the root of C: -- unfortunately I do not know a huge amount about OSD but I do think we still keep that data somewhere. It may be in a registry key or in a file located somewhere in the ldclient folder.
Imagew does not include versioning. Even in the new version 2.0 it is not there. The easiest way is to just brand your image with a version number in the registry. For what it is worth we also brand the image using oeminfo.
