    9.5 to 9.5 SP2 agent upgrade

      I've cross posted this to http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-1400#comment-19930 so apologies for the bad etiquette but I thought I might be more traffic over here.




      I am trying to use this technique to upgrade from 9.5 to 9.5 SP2.  I have upgraded the core and done the ‘Rebuild All’ in Agent Configuration. I have downloaded the update/definition, as well as the LD95-SP2-Client and LD95-SP2-Console ‘Detection Rule’. The definition/update is the in the Scan folder as well as a custom group, which the agent on the machines is configured to look at.  The definition does not have a X or ? on it.  I have also enabled global autofix.  My devices have agent installed.  However, the devices do not seem to install the update.  All other patches in those folders install fine.  The machines are configured to scan every night and it’s been 3 days since I made the patch available.  If I do a ‘Patch and compliance scan now…’ (right click) of the device it installs it.  The scan and repair window pops up and I see that it detects it.


      Is there a functional difference between right clicking and choosing patch and compliance scan now and the agents doing a scan every night?  Or between the scan that the devices do every night vs. going to patch and Compliance and creating a scheduled scan (Create a task, security scan…, Create a scheduled task)? It seems like they would all be equivalent but maybe I am missing something.

          When you right-click and start the scan are you choosing a scan and repair setting or are you using "Use agent's current settings"?


          If you are choosing a different setting you'll want to check your default settings and possible change it both scan for LANDesk Updates and also allow Autofix.  This doc shows you how to find the default setting currently being used by the client: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-24784


          If you are using "Use agent's current settings", the nightly scan should behave the same as the right-click scan.  Check the vulscan logs to determine if it is running daily and what is happening.  Check this doc to find the logs: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-8047

            It turns out the group of machines I was trying to pilot on didn’t have the agent settings that I thought I had (they should have been looking at a custom scan and repair folder). I did a ‘schedule update to agent settings’ and this seems to have put the correct agent settings on the host as well as update the agent itself.
