Funny you should mention that Jamie! In my testing of the new Web Service linking features in Service Desk 7.7.1 I use a currency conversion web service as a simple example.
Here is the web service I have used successfully: http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx. You can call it using the new feature and just give it two currency codes (for example GBP and USD) and it gives you the exchange rate. You can save that to a Decimal attribute and then use that however you want, including in a Before Save calculation with that attribute as a dependency.
I have it set up at the moment so let me know if you'd like more info. I might even do a doc/video as a general example of using the new feature.
Can you provide me more details about the Web Service and if you have any document or vedio explain and showing that?
Is it supported by Service Desk 7.6.2?
That sounds like exactly what I would need! If you get it working correctly, if you can't do a video maybe we can arrange a time to review it... maybe even at Interchange if you are there.
I'm curious, did you get the conversion working? How easy was it to set up?
I have not. I did see it demo'd at Interchange this past May I just haven't had time to get mine set up. When I do, I can post something.
Thanks for the nudge in the right direction Stu. I've got it working on it's own object. Now just to use it on a real process.
