    MSI install 'Policy made available'

    Rookie

      9.5 SP2

Trying to install VOIP software using an MSI package and the client gets stuck in 'Policy made available' status but never moves. I believe it is a problem with the client, not the installer. Doesn't matter which installer i try on this machine, they seem to snag in the same place.

I have installed this package on another client, and it went smoothly.

Here is what the log shows:

In Scheduled Tasks select the All Tasks folder.  Now in the search box type in 950.  The task ID is one of the columns in the list.

For any particular task you can right click on it and select Info to see the task ID

Searched in every task folder there is, no task #950.

Now LDMS says the package installed successfully, but it didnt. No programs added to workstation, and if i open the portal manager it shows the package install as a fail.

This is a know  error i believe. We had this before SP2. Task in console tells succesfull even the install logs tell you succesfull but the task history wil tell the true story Failed.

After companent patch 417 this was fix,; don't forget to update the agents.

Components patch 2014-265 wil fix lots more issue btw..

I knew the machine had this problem when i deployed a policy; the logs told me "task already deployed bty another policy".... but it didn't. Support can guide you to the fix
