Custom LdAppl3 to count Virtual Machine VMDK files

    Rookie

Can you customize the inventory scan to count VMDK files on a client machine?

I don't want to add it to 'MultimediaExtensions'

      Thanks in advance

Reporting / Monitoring: Manage Software list; you have to first add the extensions .vmdk .vhdx  you want to look for if not standard in the inventory ?

In the Agent config you also got an option for VDI environment, Software Usage monitor but don't know if that add's things like .vhdx files.

            Thanks for your reply.

Adding a Manage Software List file requires you to know the whole file name, size etc.

I have not enabled the VDI option but I not sure that will help this scenario

I want to collect info on all *.vmdk files

Part of the Ldapll template !

; ScanExtensions lists the extensions that will be searched for.

; Regardless of what is entered in the Applications section, if the extension

; of the file is not listed here, the application will not be found.

; This list is currently limited to 40 extensions.  If there are more than 40

; extensions, only the first 40 will be used.

ScanExtensions=.exe .pst .ocx .ini .url .html

;ScanExtensions=.exe .com .sys .nlm .lan .dll .hlp .lvl .crh .lib .run .jar .dat

WMI ! I would read some of the documentation about Manage Software List as this is the tool to add thing to your inventory not limited to filenames. We scan even for bios versions.
