    Does Wavelink TelnetCE support Chinese (We are using a Motorola MC9190-G gun)?

      Does Wavelink TelnetCE support Chinese (We are using a Motorola MC9190-G gun)?

      When We look for Chinese in the localization configuration, We do not find the Chinese option.

      ¿Should our MC9190-G have a Chinese-localized WinCE for the TelnetCE software to support Chinese?

      Please advice.

          Hello,

          Yes the TE client does support Chinese.. In TE in the HOST tab you will need to select the emulation type of 5555-B01 or C01 and then click on the language tab and select the appropriate code page..

          B01 = Black and White

          C01 = Color

            Thank you for the reply. Doubt: Does the 5555-x01 emulation work like the vt-220??( that is the emulation required by my host)

              I am not sure if I understand the question correctly.. if you are using VT220 and a language build, you should see the different language versions supported..

                Hi, Cachilli,
                We are using the following hardware and software:
                Hardware
                ---------------
                Motorola part number: MC9190-GJ0SWJYA6WR
                Motorola MC9190 serial number: 1232400502364
                OEM version: 02.32.0004
                OEM Name: Motorola MC9190G
                Software
                -------------
                Operating system:  Microsoft WindowsCE 6.0
                OS Version: 06.00.0000
                TelnetCE version:  7.0.106
                According to the TelnetCE manual We can "localize" the software. In the language options (Display & Server) We did not find the Chinese language option.
                Motorola then suggested that We use TelnetCE International Version 7.3.204.
                We tried this international version. In this case We did find the chinese options in the language options (Display & Server). However, the screen showed "Squares" instead of chinese characters. (See below image "Cuadrados.jpg")
                Then a co-worrker suggested that We tried the following process,
                1)  In a windows 8 PC, look for the following font file:  c:\Windows\fonts\simsun.ttc
                     2)  Copy the file to the MC9190G in the following folder: \windows\fonts\
                     3)  Configure the Emulation-Parameters-Display-FontName to "simsun" in TelnetCE. (See image below)
                After completing the process above, the Chinese charecters appeared OK (see below attached "Pantalla con caracteres chinos.jpg"). At this time We have  quiestions: ¿Is the process We found correct? ¿Can We have problems in the future? ¿What other solutions does Wavelink have?
                Please advice.

                  Adding the font file and then naming the font in the emulation parameters is fine.. that's how we would normally add fonts that do not exists on the devices.. you should not run into any issue with the font files unless they are corrupt..
