    LDMS 9.6 upgrade from 9.5 - System Loads?


      We are planning an upgrade this week from 9.5 to 9.6 & are looking for a good timeslot to do it during the day.


      We have 2000 endpoints, & about 20 analysts that have the remote console installed.


      I am looking for a general idea of what performance hits we might expect running an upgrade,  We have a few other critical items running off the same SQL server where this is hosted.  Anything to look out for on the SQL box or CPU / Performance hits that we should expect?

          One thing to consider is that you will need to update your Remote Consoles once the Core upgrade is complete.


          As to any impact to the SQL server, it is hard to say for sure because of the wide variety of options, configurations or settings that you might be using, however generally we don't see upgrades cause problems for SQL servers. For the best results, make sure that your database is in good shape, with the proper maintenance run (indexes, fragmentation, etc.) so that any operations can be completed more quickly and efficiently. Also, make sure you have a backup of the database before you start the upgrade.

            upgrade went fine - no hits to sql or core server at all -  but after the upgrade, I now see high usage on w3wp ldappvulnerability.  fluctuates between 1 & 45 on CPU & static at around 1.2 GB memory usage... there are 2 other w3wp processes running also, but those are negligible on RAM & CPU


            pc agents are still in the process of being upgraded to the 9.6 version.


            I have contacted support on this & applied a 9.6 base patch that was provided, but still running high.  Also, consoles take a much longer time to refresh pc status & even freeze up the pc or console.  Running on Win 7 x64 with 8GB of ram (hp 6000 & hp 8300).  I have it set to scan only the selected pc & not the entire view automatically...


            I like some of the new features & components, but honestly these delays are really painful for me & my tech group, & are slowing down our support process considerably from before.
