The inbound service needs to be running. It that runs up and then stops, check the event log
The inbound service was the key - I had problems restarting the service - found about 56 updates needed on the application server - applied the patches and then the service restarted without a problem.
All good now - appreciate the speed of your response
We are currently on version 7.6. We get this issue every 4 - 6 weeks, normally a combination of restarting the service and reducing the number of e-mails to process does the trick. We just shift a whole bunch of unread e-mails to a temporary folder.
We plan to upgrade to 7.8 end of Jan, I understand mail processing has been improved.
