Have you tried to recreate this problem? If inventory is the culprit you can run ldiscn32.exe /V /L /F from a command prompt and see if any of the applications hang. If they do hang open a support case and we can dig in and see what might be causing this.
To complete the Phil's comment, did you think about the A/V running on your machines which could cause this issue as well. If you uninstall the A/V on this machine, do you still encounter this issue?
