Process precondition where CurrentUser is 'member of' assigned group

We're running 7.7.1 and we have a Change process with preconditions before actions (like Approve, Complete, etc.) that check to see if the current assignment group is the user's CurrentGroup. This ensures only those in the appropriate groups are able to take action, which is what we want, but it's really clunky since it requires the users to switch groups (from possibly dozens of groups that can't even be alphabetized), in order to take any action.

There must be some sort of precondition or other function that just checks to see if a user is a member of the assigned group rather than actually requiring it to be selected as the current group, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It's a basic permissions concept, so I assume it's there somewhere (it'd be stupid not to), but I'm stumped
