    Disabled PC's in AD

    Apprentice

I'm attempting locate disabled PC's in AD that are in the Landesk inventory. I've enabled  AD in Landesk and have a saved query that reports disabled devices.  Can't figure out a way to bring this information into a Landesk query. Is there a way to do so or another way to determine if I have any disabled devices in my Landesk database.

Do you have Data Analytics? I think you might need that to do this, I have an LDAP import coming from AD to update a custom a field I use for querying enable vs disabled devices in AD. This is great however, if the device gets delete from AD there is nothing there to update LANDesk so I am trying to figure out a way now to find a way that if its not in AD how to update the record. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, we don't have Data Analytics.  Anyone else have any other options?

In order to do an LDMS query we require inventory data.

Without Data Analytics you could still do a a query providing you have something else that can produce a list for you of the AD devices.

I imagine there are some tools out there that could provide a text based list. If so, then get a csv file created that contains the machines you want to query LANDESK for, maybe using their device name. Then when creating your query use the 'Multi-Insert' option. This allows you to paste in a csv list of values that you can then search against. Just make sure you have chosen the OR operator first.

                  Thanks Mark.

From AD I was able to export a list and, leveraging the Multi-Insert feature, create a query that looked for disabled devices still in my Landesk database.  A bit time consuming but I did learn something about the multi-insert feature.

Previously, I've been using Excel and performed a vlookup from the list of deleted items to the list of landesk items.  That still seems to be a cleaner, faster and best way so I guess I'll stick with that method for now.

One final question - is the purpose of the LDAP Query function just to feed distribution tasks. Guess I'm asking whether one can leverage this info in reporting or inventory queries.

                  Best,

Correct, LDAP queries are for targeting only.

We have just purchased DA and I will be needing to do something like this.  Would you mind sharing how you configured this?

                      Thanks.
