Hey, so you're just after a unique value to work against or is there heaps of data missing from your inventory?
The device ID in your inventory will be unique to each device.
Serial number for a device is pulled from the device and can be found in the device inventory computer.system.
If it's a bigger problem with your inventory then I'll need more information i.e. LDMS version, what ARE you getting for an example device under inventory.

Will the Mac Address work for you?
Will the Device ID be the same even if the computer gets reformatted or has the LANDesk client reinstalled?
Not by default.
Generally, the Device ID is fresh & uniquely generated upon install (it's a SID-like string).
However, LANDesk Management Suite has an option that allows you for a device to restore its old Device ID (based on recognising the device on hardware information, such as a MAC address).
