Now the http share authenticates fine (I didn't change ANYTHING, this drives me crazy) but the UNC stills fails with the distribution account.
I tested the UNC access from other machines with that account and it works fine (read only) I do not understand why it would fail on the preferred server window. I double check the credentials.
if in your setup of the preferred server for the "Server Name" field if you are using fully qualified name mypc.mydomain.com try using only the machine name or vice versa. I had an issue with a preferred server that had a FQDN and switching it to just the machine name squared it all away.
That worked Jay, I changed my preferred server mane to mypc.mydomain.local and it worked.
This worked fine when the core was the Preferred Server,
I'm trying to add an external machine as a preferred server but the http share authentication fails.
In IIS manager the Browse and explore works fine, but when testing the credentials for the Preferred Server the connection fails.
Not even my admin account works when trying to configure another machine as a Preferred Server.
Carlos, unfortunately i am not much help there. The only thing i could think of would be the IIS authentication method. as a test maybe set it to anonymous authentication and see if it works.
I'll try that, I was told that anonymous is not secure, and that basic or windows would be recommended.
I'll keep testing.
