How to create a stand alone image using Imagew.exe

    carlos Expert

      LDMS 9.6 SP2

Hello, I been looking for some direction on how to do this, I have found several pots that takes me to the terabyteunlimited web site, based on the recommendation to use ImageW.exe

.terabyteunlimited sells their product, Image for Windows, but I see that is also included with LANDesk, so here are my questions:

      1. I assume that the LANDesk version is not related to terabyteunlimited licensing wise and I can use it with out problems an unlimited number of time/devices, BUT their documentation is the same? correct?

      2. I was told that I can add the ImageW.exe to WinPE and load it on a USB stick and run that as well to capture the image on it (by Joe Drwiega on this post https://community.landesk.com/support/thread/30254?sr=stream) How do I do this, is there documentation on this, I could not find it)

      Thank you for your help.

          1. You can use it as many times as you want its all included with you LANDESK license far as I know.

          2. See if this document helps https://help.landesk.com/Help/enu/ldms/9.0/Content/Windows/osd_app.htm and you can scroll to Using IMAGEW version 1 and in that it has "To create an uncompressed image to a file" and "To create a compressed image to a CD drive" and "To create an uncompressed image to a CD drive". The thought is that you can swap CD or File with the USB drive letter. Now you can run the Imagew.exe program manually from WINPE and walk thru the document in the link I sent in the first post (ImageW command lines (ifw_en_manual).pdf) You will need to open boot.wim and copy the imagew.exe or the whole imgtools folder in WINPE in Windows\System32.
