    PXE boot menu problem

      Hello again,

now after I successfully set my core server as a PXE representative

when I boot a pc from PXE I see the following options (PC is connecting to the correct PXE rep.):

      • Managed DOS

      • Managed WinPE

      • Managed LinuxPE

      • LANDesk DOS Menu

      • WinPE Menu

      • Linux PE Menu

      • WinPE Provisioning

      • Linux PE Provisioning

After I choose any of these I get an error:

      PXE-T01: File not found

PXE-E3B: TFTP Error - File Not found

      PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM.

I don't see any interesting file on the PXE rep. in C:\Program Files\LANDesk\PXE\System\Images

just copyfile.exe and x86pc folder with lot of empty folders like bootmenu, bstrap, ...

I know that there was lot of similar posts like this before but I've tried the suggestions form it but it didn't help.

1)Copy the Pxe Representative Deployment and Revomal Scripts.

2)Paste them into the Program Files\Landesk\Management Suite\Scripts directory and overwrite your existing ones.

3)Re-schedudle the Pxe Representative Deployment from the OS Deployment tool under the 'All other Scripts' section.

Attached is the latest pxe deployment/removal script.

thanks for Your reply but when I launch this script I get an error I've had before (PRTITION.EXE: disk size is too small for specified image).

This happen when sdclient .exe and ldiscn32.exe are called from C:\ldclient. If I change it to C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon

script runs ok but even then the effect is the same like before:

            PXE-T01: File not found

did the files be copied to "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\sdmcache" or do you see some files here  "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient"? I've seen this issue on some of our PXE servers too. I delete the files manually and start the deployment again and than it works. But can't say, why it happens...

Did you test the installation on another computer instead of your core (LANDesk doesn't prefer the installation on the core... )

              Take a look here:

If I use original PXE deployment script or the one from the link files are copied to "C:\ldclient" becouse of the Landesk variable %LDMS_CLIENT_DIR% and of course it fails becouse it cannot find sdclient.exe file which is used in deplyment scrpt:

                (REMEXEC20=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\sdclient.exe<qt/> /p="%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\sdmcache\osdrep.msi" /msi /N /An /Ac /g="{F238CE99-6614-4072-9D20-1D2FA7ED951A}")

that's why I have changed this line to point to "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\ldlogon\sdclient.exe" and the job runs successfully.

PXE service is installed and the rest seems too but in "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\PXE\System\images" and subfolders I can't see any file only empty folders ...

In Landesk 8.5 We have PXE rep. on LDMS core and there was no problem.

If I try to install it on another server the effect is the same - PXE\System\images folder with empty folders, Menu is showing up on PXE boot but all ends with error:

                PXE-T01: File not found

PXE-E3B: TFTP Error - File Not found

                PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM.

I have found the solution. The problem was the agent on the core.

I have simply reinstalled Landesk agent on the coreserver itself and it's ok now !
