    Landesk Remote Control service issue

    Rookie

      Good Morning,

I have an issue with the remote control service: i have a client that i can reache without any problem with management console. If I try to remote connect to the client everything is ok, I can connect and use it normally.

The problems start when I reboot the client. Infact after the restart of the client I can't connect to it anymore, even if in the management console the client is visible and reachable.

When I try to connect in the connection messages I see:

Attempting to contact remote computer on computer name, ip address

Trying to connect to ip address using TCP

Trying to connect to ip address using TCP

Starting the on-demand agent using core server 'coreservername'...

Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)

Unable to locate the remote computer.

      or in other cases:

Attempting to contact remote computer on computer name, ip address

Trying to connect to ip address using TCP

Unable to send a request to the remote computer

Then if I restart the Landesk Remote Control service on the client I can connect to it normally.

      note that:

I can connect normally with other dozens of client.

The Agent used is the same on all the client of my network.

The client OS is Windows 7 64bit SP1

The client has .NET 4.5 installed

      thanks,

      Andrea

          Hi Andrea,

          therefore a solution document exists:

          please test it.

          best regards

          Markus

              Hi Markus,

thanks for the reply. I've checked the article.

As suggested I've opened the log file but I can't find any row with " Exception The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel." as indicated in the article.

The only reference to the connection problem is: Couldn't find hostname on any configured CSA.

              The complete log sequence is:

Couldn't find hostname on any configured CSA.

Request to get remote control rights for ipaddress

PDS2 hostname for target ipaddress is hostname

              Found computer ({B2AA8E72-A363-9D49-9737-4B3479CCD7D3}) as 24988

              156

              159

              <RemoteControl><Rights><View value="1"><AllowInput value="1" /></View><Chat value="1" /><FileTransfer value="1" /><RemoteExecute value="1" /><Reboot value="1" /></Rights><Session><ID>ZcTzAI2OLkiNAT9B</ID><Expiration>2016-1-14 8:42:44</Expiration></Session><UserName>USERDOMAIN\username</UserName></RemoteControl>

Then, if I restart the service Landesk Remote Control on the client, everything come back to normal (till the next client reboot).

              Thanks,

              Andrea

                Ciao Andrea,

your Landesk Remote Control Service starts before the client receives a valid IP, try setting the Startup type to Delayed Start. (option available from windows 7) If your client are still on windows XP you may need to restart the remote control service

                  YEP!!!! That's the solution!

very easy but you are right. Ususally the clients are configured with static ip address while only in this case a DHCP is used.

                  I'm getting older...

                  grazie mille e ciao,
                  Andrea
