I'm experiencing the same error with Windows 2012 R2. Except I'm getting the error on patching. I haven't tried software distribution yet.
See if either of these docs help: Deploy patch failed by using policy supported push delivery method with error message "Error downloading package"
Sounds like a share permissions issue.
I have already tried most of these suggestions.
LANDesk worked fine until I did an in place upgrade of the CORE/DB server to Windows 2012R2.
Thanks, and happy Monday.
Have you looked into the "protocol negotiation" features of Windows SMB? Depending on which OS is running on the clients, you may get a different result. See the diagram on this page for a breakdown: http://blogs.technet.com/b/josebda/archive/2013/10/02/windows-server-2012-r2-which-version-of-the-smb-protocol-smb-1-0-smb-2-0-smb-2-1-smb-3-0-or-smb-3-02-you-are-using.aspx
There are certain negotiation parameters you can set on the server side that might affect compatibility. Be aware that you may have already set some of these in the past, which may have survived the in-place upgrade, but maybe are no longer appropriate.
Did you make sure you have .* in your MIME Types?
LANDESK does not support you upgrading the OS of your Core Server. The upgrade has changed a massive amount that the LD installer has no chance of changing.
Are you able to restore your Core to a state prior to the OS upgrade?

Thank you for your reply - that does make sense.
I was trying to avoid having to build as new core server if possible.
It's a VM, so I can easily restore.
