    Not Downloading Additional Files

    mkfobian Apprentice

      Hello all,

I'm running into an odd behavior on a few of my packages. These are batch file packages, and they are failing because the batch file calls additional files that don't seem to be downloaded from my core or preferred servers.

The package SHOULD simply download a (7gb!) zip file of install media and a few other associated Additional Files, then run a batch file that unzips the install media and installs the software.

I set the package up this way because the number of individual files was causing serious slowdowns on my core server whenever I needed to edit or reset the package hashes (the install media is well over 6,000 files)

My scheduled tasks with this package are set to "Download and execute" using the default "Standard policy-supported push distribution" delivery method, but the task just seems to fire off the batch file without even attempting to download the required additional files.

      Any ideas?

Hi mkfobian, As contained in your upload, there are several redirects occurring and the additional files aren't being downloaded. What I would like to see is the package info as it relates to IIS. You can view this information but I don't recommend you uploaded the contents here. To view this information on your core please conduct the following actions: - open up IIS (you can do this from a run prompt and type in inetmgr) - drill down to the apmservice website and browse to the site - select the Packageinfo web service - then select the GetPackageXML operation - Type in the id of your package and select invoke (you will need to jump back to the LDMS console and right-click on your package and select "info" to get the ID) Please verify your additional files exist in the xml file. The redirects are also interesting. Can you enable additional logging on one of your clients. To do this open up the registry (regedit) and navigate to the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\landesk\managementsuite\LogOptions or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\landesk\managementsuite\LogOptions (depending on the architecture of the device). Turn on logVerbose and logXTrace. Once this is complete relaunch your job and review the sdclient_taskXXX.log file. Will

I don't mind posting the output here -- although I will be obfuscating IPs and server names; unless you have any objections.

The package files do appear to be there under <AdditionalFiles> in the package XML, but in the XTrace log the only place the additional files are referenced is in the batch file output (which of course fails without them)

Thanks for the update. The sdclient_taskxxx.log file is fine to post just not the getpackagexml. Check the proxyhost.log file on the client (landesk\shared files) you should see an attempt to hit the apmservice/packageinfo.asmx location. Can you verify that the http response is in the 200 series.

Another test we can run is the following:

Navigate to the ldclient directory from an admin cmd prompt and perform this execution: pedownloaded.exe /P="path_to_your_additional_file/file"

The CLI will show you the result but there will also be a pedownloader log file in programdata\landesk\logs on the client.

Please keep me updated on your actions.

This is progress. I see that you have configured the package to run with a specified user but the application appears to get hung. Please verify the application runs as expected when manually launching it on the client. In this attempt you will be using the current logged on users credentials.

If you mean does the application install properly when run manually - it does install and work properly.

Also, as for the user credentials, the same behavior occurs whether using an administrative domain account or LocalSystem
