I am having issues with PXE booting into the LANDesk WinPE provisioning OS. I have injected the required drivers into the WinPE boot.wim and boot_x64.wim files as per instructions here (https://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-29823?forceNoRedirect=true) and I can see the driver exists in the WIM file using the "Manage Drivers in WinPE Image" tool within LDMS. When I boot the client (Lenovo Yoga11e ThinkPad) using PXE it loads correctly into the WinPE image but never gets an IP address because the driver is never installed/assigned. How do I fix this?
Be sure to add NIC drivers for Win7 & Win8.1 for that model and should be fine.
LDMS 9.6 uses WinPE 5.0, requiring Windows 8.1 drivers. You'll need 64 bit Win 8.1 PXE drivers.
Depending on how you have the 11e connected you'll need the following.
If attempting to PXE through the USB dock, load these
if connecting directly, you will need to pick the correct 11e WinPE5 driver listed
I managed to figure out what was happening. I had injected a driver that was conflicting with the original driver, so I followed the steps here (How to create a Clean WINPE (BOOT.WIM) on the Core Server) and then monitored what drivers needed to be injected, only injected one driver for that device and it's worked.
