I've tested the link http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/5/165f9a6c-a11f-47be-ad27-31254c806a93/windowsxp-kb2659262-x86-fra.exe and he's really dead.

Is there a way to avoid such failures before running the download tasks ? Does it come from the Landek catalog itself or from my catalog ?

          "It depends" in short.

So we host the download links to Microsoft's pages -- so it's Microsoft who may / would have pulled those patches.

We also "have" to host potentially extremely old vulnerability content (we've still got customers as far back as Windows 2000 from time to time), so we can't just wipe out "outdated" vulnerability content (believe me - we'd love to & have tried - but each time we'd stumble over environments that relied on LD telling them how vulnerable they are, even though they were running long-since-EOL'ed OS'es in the first place). So it's a bit of a "no win" situation for us.

We currently decided to host the vulnerability content after all (so people can SCAN) - but if Microsoft & other vendors pull the patches from their site, there's not much we can do.

On the other hand, if you should have a "current" vulnerability and run into a dead link, that would be just a regular ticket to be raised with support & our content team would look at fixing whatever got changed / broken.

Does that help understand the situation?

(Also there's the variant where Microsoft's DNS / load balancing servers may have hiccups - so you can try to download these patches directly from alternate network connections - you're provided the paths after all - and shove the downloaded binaries into the /LDLOGON/PATCH/ directory .

Great answer sir, very informativ !

I will try to download them by alternativ links/searches and add them directly to the /LDLOGON/PATCH/ dir.

            Cheers.

              No worries.

We still keep the hashes for those files around as well - so all of that content is still safe & sound.

              Glad to be of help!
