Can you use this aemp with fat-clients and mandatory profiles ( will the Metro shortcuts be saved) ?
Should be able to, I don't see why not.
What is the word with Win8 / Metro and AppSense EM. Is it still officially unsupported ?
Thanks for the config, will be useful.
Its not that it unsupported but more that it is a pain in the proverbial.
If you were to call up support and had the start menu configured using Landon's template above they wouldn't turn you away. That said, if you use a roaming profile they do pretty much exactly the same thing as what we are doing in the configuration.
I've got this working in EM 8.5 by configuring the same files and folders in a Windows Personalization Group. The only caveat is that Desktop Created is too early to undo the lock on the files. You still need a post logon trigger using something like Jorrits refreshnow to trigger the unlock of the files.
Any idea why this wouldn't work with Server 2012 R2 as well? I'm trying to get this up and running for XenApp workers and am not having great results. Auditing indicates that every action in the policy is completing successfully except for the modify attributes actions which both return:
The system cannot find the file specified.
Please note that for testing I've disabled personalization and all other parts of the policy so that nothing else could be interfering. Also, I removed the OS conditions so the actions would run on 2012 R2 and not just Windows 8 or 8.1.
