    ccacmd and moving deployment groups

    BChriscoli Expert
I'm trying to work out whether its possible to utilize CCACMD.exe to move a device from one deployment group to another, in the same AMC DB.
I can see that unregistering the device leaves behind the dbo.discoveredmachines record, so any attempt to re-add it puts it into the same group.

Wondering if anyone else has had any success in utilizing this method.

I think I just answered by own question.

When unregistering, it doesnt actually leave a discoveredmachine record. It does delete it from the DB.
          BUT
In order to register the CCA again, it has to be started.. therefore using the URL already in place and thus placing it into either a previous group, or default.

The way I'm testing it now is:

          ccacmd.exe /unregister
          reg delete HKLM\Software\AppSense Technologies\Communications Agent /f
net start "AppSense Client Communications Agent"
          ccacmd.exe /url https://myurl.fqdn Bryans_Group
net stop "AppSense Client Communications Agent"
net start "AppSense Client Communications Agent"

          Will update shortly.

The above method works in moving deployment groups from within the same DB.
I'm going to tidy it up and run it under a PowerShell System context.

Just as an FYI for anyone in future I guess!
