      Hello Landesk Community!

I set up a Windows Script Host tasks in Software Distribution that runs the popular offscrub10.vbs to accomplish a clean uninstall of Office 2010. After some troubleshooting I have confirmed that the command runs successfully by running it as the local system account on the client computer. Unfortunately, every time I run it from the LD Console I receive the failure code listed in the subject line. I'm pretty sure this is related to the offscrub10.vbs script not outputting a correct or even a non-existent error code.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

      Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback FrugalRain! I believe the "ALL" part of the command should address which products to uninstall. So to answer your question directly, yes I did. By the way, I can confirm on the client that the script works as intended, it's just failing in the Landesk console with the error code you see above. So I'm thinking this may be an issue with a return code that Landesk doesn't recognize, or perhaps no return code at all.

The return code suspicion would make a lot of sense (after all - that's what we made return code templates for).

It being a VB-script, I'd usually expect a 0 return code for "I've run and I've not died horribly" at the end. But you're getting - (0x8db50002 - code 2) ... which is not a normal / common return code.

So yeah - you could manage this via return code templates. There's not really such a thing as "standard return codes" in scripts - and the reason why we left it so configurable is because a lot of vendors have "their own understanding" shall we say of what return codes should or should not be.

If the script runs & doesn't die horribly (though it might be worth asking the script provider what that code means - I'd again expect a 0 for a successful run), just to confirm that "there's no problem" - then just deal with it via a return-code template .
