Absolutely this does work.
Just run the utility (which you'll fin in the console folder) and enter the URL of configcenter and password for the consolx64.exe app and press the UPDATE button and you are all set. Works well.
Hi Julian , thanks for the reply. I am trying to logon to the console for my different instances using the same console install on a client. So I thought you need to enter different FrameWork locations ? one for each instance [Dev / Production / UAT]. So I am not sure why entering the url for config center will help here ? As although you can enter multiple config center locations you can only enter one location for the service desk framework?

The way the utility works is that you point to the configurationcenter URL and it then displays ALL instances setup automatically on the logon page dropdown.
You can associate to more that one ConfigurationCenter setup too and it will combine and identify them in the dropdown.
So yes you can sit on your desktop console install and access DEV, TEST and LIVE from one place.
You don't have to setup anything for the individual instance; just point at ConfigurationCenter!!
So I was trying to add a load balanced instance for the web servers. A collegue found just add the individual servers path to the config centre and it works great. Thanks Julian.
We had trouble getting drop down to display despite all the suggestions. For us the fix was;
Called today to open a support case on this after we upgraded to version 2018.1 and Bryan was able to help us troubleshoot. In IIS the configuration center directory has to have anonymous authentication turned on for this to work. So for anyone who tried this but still can't get the drop down check your IIS authentications on the configuration center directory. Thanks
It is possible something was changed post install, however I'm not sure if one of the upgrades along the way did this or we did or possible a corporate patch with group policy on this. While trying to troubleshoot a saw a few people were having this issue so hopefully it may be helpful to others going forward should they run in to the same issue.
