    LDCacheInfo on desktop after copying shortcut

    Apprentice

      Hi there

      I'm copying some files and shortcuts through a powershell oneliner:

      Copy-Item "$CurDir\C\*" -Recurse "C:\" -Force

      Within the "C" folder there is the following structure:

      Program Files

           Softwarename

      Users

           Public

                Desktop

                     Softwarename.lnk

      Programdata

           Microsoft

                Windows

                     Start Menu

                          Programs

                               Softwarename.lnk

      After deploying the package I am presented a folder called "LDCacheInfo" on the same public desktop and in every folder that was copied to the client.

      How can I get rid of that? What is it for?

      Thanks

          LOL, that's my solution....for now:

          # Cleanup LDCacheInfo
          $CleanupPaths = @("C:\Users\Public\Desktop")
          $CleanupPaths += "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"
          $CleanupPaths += "C:\Program Files\blablabla"
          ForEach ($CleanupPath in $CleanupPaths)
              {
                  if (Test-Path $CleanupPath)
                      {
                          Write-Host "Looking for LDCacheInfo in" $CleanupPath
                          $LDCacheInfoFolder = Get-ChildItem $CleanupPath -Include LDCacheInfo -Recurse
                          ForEach ($LDCacheInfo in $LDCacheInfoFolder)
                              {
                                  if ($LDCacheInfo)
                                      {
                                          Write-Host "Found & removed" $LDCacheInfo
                                          Remove-Item $LDCacheInfo -Recurse -Force
                                      }
                              }
                      }
              }

            Thanks for taking the time to share your solution with the community!  I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your original question (I work as a part of the community team) but I saw we have some information about that folder available in our Advice Center search site which may be of interest: https://landeskcommunity.force.com/customers/CommunitySearch#q=LDCacheInfo&t=All

            Best wishes

            Karen

              Hi Karen

              Thanks for the update.

              I am new to LANdesk and for me it looks like the control mechanism for downloading the source files to the client. Within the local cache folder "sdmcache" I found these LDCacheInfo folders in every folder, too. Whenever there are files within folders, you will find LDCacheInfo folders containing hash files.

              My script just copies the source files from the local cachefolder. So, all the hash files will be copied, too.

              Thanks to powershell, my solution is quite simple :-)

              Regards

              Fabian
