I'm using existing file server as the location for the Software Distribution installers. Now I'm implementing CSA to my environment for my external users.
As per software distribution requirement that need the http share host in the Core server, is it possible to do create a "dummy" http share in the Core server so that it will point to the http share host in the file server. I'm not planning to copy the installers from file server to Core server.
2, Software Distribution via CSA requires that the packages be hosted on an http share on the Core Server. Any task that requires downloading a file requires the file to be hosted on the Core server. Preferred servers, for Software Distribution, Patching etc. will not work via the CSA.
The reason being is that the CSA only has a route to the core server. It is not able to navigate through the rest of your network. As long as you can access the share using the core servers name, you should be fine.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
