Mmartinvegue - you do not need a silent switch to install Office 2016. I wrote the step-by-step processes to deploy Office 2016 a while back (see http://www.nine41consulting.com/how-to-install-microsoft-office-2016-for-mac-using-landesk-management-suite/) but if you're familiar with LANDESK Management Suite already, you'll notice there is no magic.
My assumption would be that the Mac is unable to resolve your package share or does not have filer permission access to your package share. Without seeing the LANDESK.log file found in /Library/Application\ Support/LANDesk though, it's kind of tough to know for sure.
Thanks Northice, I saw this earlier and was still unable to get it to work. The only difference I see is I am downloading the .pkg installer from Microsoft Volume Licensing portal page and not from office.com/myaccount. The Micrsoft Volume Licensing page download comes with two files. One file is the Microsoft_Office_2016_Volume_Installer.pkg and the other file is the Microsoft_Office_2016_VL_Serializer_2.0.pkg
Your document is straightforward so I am not sure what is going wrong on my side.
mmartinevegue - if you want to send me an email with your packages, I can test it out on my end; that should let us see if the serializer package needs something special or if it is environment related. firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are you all using a serialized version or having them sign-in with the 365 account? I am asking because I am trying to find a serialized way of doing the install for a lab we have.
I was successful at getting it working with LANDesk by modifying a .sh file with the following:
curl -O 'http://(share location)/mac/Microsoft/Office/2016/Microsoft_Office_2016.zip'
sudo installer -pkg ~/installer/Microsoft_Office_2016.pkg -target /
rm -r ~/installer
