In version 7.2.6, we are experimenting with using the HTML display in our Test environment. When we try to insert an image, we find that we can drag an icon of an image from our desktop into the HTML display. Then when the article is saved and reopened, the image area shows as a box. When the inside of the box is right clicked, a menu displays "Show Images". When that option is selected, the image appears. Where are those images stored on the server? Also, why don't the images appear when the article is opened?
The images are stored as attachment data in the database (similar to adding attachments to incidents).
Having to right-click to view is as designed and was done as such to avoid large files having to be downloaded unecessarily (although admittedly does require extra effort when you DO want to view them!)
What table(s) are the images stored in? Is there a way to configure them so they display automatically?

All attachment data (including images in HTML fields) is stored in tps_attachment_data, however you'll find its not possible to extract the binary data and its also hard to tie each row to its references elsewhere in the database.
There isn't a configurable option to change the behaviour on whether to automatically download images or not I'm afraid, although is definitely something you could raise with Support as a suggestion for future releases.
