    Failing Copy Script

    Rookie

      Hi, I'm trying to run a file copy script, and I keep getting a failed scheduled task, and I can't figure out the error that I'm getting . Looking at the Servicehost.log, I see the following:

      I have verified the access to the source directory, and it has Everyone Read Access. the error I get on the schedule task is CBA 8, unable to contact the remote agent.

      Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Please let me know if any more info is needed. Running LANDesk 8.8 SP2.

      Thanks!

      Message was edited by: Georges Khairallah Update: So I tweaked the script a bit, and change the http paths to UNC paths, and the copy script worked. I am told that web shares are usually more universally accessible than UNC paths, so I'm still interested in figuring out why the http webshares aren't working. Any ideas?

          what method are you using, REMCOPY? It's hard to know why unless you state your method.

            Tom, thanks for your reply.

            I'm not exactly sure what the "method" means in reference to a copy script. the command used is actually REMEXEC .. that's the closest in format to your reference of REMCOPY.

            Below is the script I'm using:

            [JOBPARAM]
            MAX_MULTICAST_THREADS=5
            MAX_MC_FAILURES_THREADS=240
            STEPS=2
            [MULTICAST]
            FILE=http://do-gmk-dt/ldapps/StartScripts/315-LabISOMount.kix
            FILE_TTL_TARGET=172800
            FILE_TTL_SUBREP=1209600
            MIN_SLEEP=1
            MAX_SLEEP=200
            MIN_SLEEP_LAN=1
            MAX_SLEEP_LAN=200
            WAKE_ON_LAN=0
            WAIT_FOR_WAKE_ON_LAN=120
            [MULTICAST_1]
            FILE=http://do-gmk-dt/ldapps/StartScripts/315-MountDrives.bat
            FILE_TTL_TARGET=172800
            FILE_TTL_SUBREP=1209600
            MIN_SLEEP=1
            MAX_SLEEP=200
            MIN_SLEEP_LAN=1
            MAX_SLEEP_LAN=200
            LEVELS_IN_NAME=1
            WAKE_ON_LAN=0
            [MACHINES_1]
            REMEXEC0=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\sdclient.exe<qt/> /f /p="http://do-gmk-dt/ldapps/StartScripts/315-LabISOMount.kix" /dest="C:\Windows\315-LabISOMount.kix" /polite=0 /lanpps=0 /wanpps=0
            REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\sdclient.exe<qt/> /f /p="http://do-gmk-dt/ldapps/StartScripts/315-MountDrives.bat" /dest="C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\315-MountDrives.bat" /polite=0 /lanpps=0 /wanpps=0

            Though I have a feeling that the problem occuring is related to my webshare somehow. though I'm not exactly sure what to troubleshoot on there, other than trying to access the webshare with a browser, and succeeding..

              Maybe what you want to do is more complicate but the sample below will copy a file from the server to a WS.

              [MACHINES_NT]
              REMCOPY0=\\server\Software\IBM\cwbtf.exe, c:\program files\IBM\Client Access\cwbtf.exe, TOREMOTE

                Actually, what you just gave me is exactly what I want to do. though, the initial script that I had created was through the "New File Transfer" script from within the "Manage Scripts" section. The output of running this wizard is the script above, that's why I figured it should work without a problem, and as a matter of fact, it is, only from a UNC path, just not from an HTTP path. I will give your suggestion a shot with an HTTP path and see if that works.

                Thanks!!

                  Did you enable anonymous access on the webshare?

                  If you start an Intemet Explorer under a local system account ( from a command prompt: at 12:00 /interactive c:\Progra~1\Intern~1\iexplore.exe make 12:00 a time 1 minute in the future from when you do this ) and go to http://do-gmk-dt/ldapps/StartScripts/315-MountDrives.bat what happens??

                    Frank,

                    thanks for your reply.

                    I have tried what you requested, and got the same result. I'm not sure if there was a particular reason you referred to the .bat file as opposed to the .exe file, but it's worthy to note that the .bat file returns a "404 Page not found" when I go to it, while running as a regular user, or localsystem account, while the exe file just downloads without any problems. Could it be a problem with browsing to a .bat file? maybe I need to make a change in IIS settings to be able to browse for this type of file? just a thought...
