I have been trying to understand how the fingerprint works, and I have not been having success. I tried to make it as simple as I can, I created a file with yesterday's date(file1.txt), and placed it in a directory structure (c:\apps). I created a file with today's date, and put it in the package. I then created a fingerprint for the file and put in today's date.
I run a DAU on the system with the older file, and the patch does not show that it is needed. I have tried many different ways of getting this to work and all are not consistent. Does anyone use the Content Wizard and has some tips to be successful, thanks
I know this is old, but the fingerprint is determining if it is installed, not if it is needed. You need to make sure you have the correct OS selected on the signature and on the package and then a script to perform the action of putting the file in the correct place.
