Occasionally, our users report that they receive an error "UserInterfaceException - List 'Related Incidents' processing error" although they are not actively working within HEAT.
It seems that this error occurs from time to time if a dashboard is refreshed. In the log I found the following entry:
List 'Related Incidents' processing error. Transaction (Process ID 66) was deadlocked on lock | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
Any ideas what could cause this problem and how to fix it?
It looks like that you can avoid (or at least reduce the number of this) error if you configure "Read Committed Snapshot Isolation" on the HEAT database. For more details, see the section "About Snapshot Isolation Levels" in the "Performance Tuning Guide for HEAT Service Management".
